Kinnaur - Spiti Valley Jeep Safari

About The Tour : A 17 Days/ 16 Nights classical jeep safari ex Chandigarh to one of the remotest regions of Himachal Pradesh, viz Spiti valley & Kinnaur. It involves visiting remote valleys, villages and crossing over high mountain passes providing spectacular views of snow capped peaks, rugged terrain and old monasteries. You would also visit the World’s highest permanently village, Kibber in Spiti valley.

Duration / Covered Destination : Delhi-Chandigarh-Manali-Kaza-Kinnaur-Shimla-Chandigarh (17 Days/16 Nights)

Day 01 : Arrive Delhi - Upon arrival transfer to hotel.

Day 02 : Delhi - Chandigarh - By Train - Transfer by Shatabdi express to Chandigarh. Upon arrival in Chandigarh transfer to hotel. Rest of the day to relax. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03 : Chandigarh/ Manali (300 kms)
Meet on arrival and travel onwards by surface to Manali. On arrival in Manali, check in at Hotel Banon Resorts. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04 : Manali
Morning half day tour visiting Hadimba Devi Temple, Manu Temple and Vashisht. Afternoon half day tour visiting Naggar Castle, Roerich Art Gallery and some other old temples in Naggar village. Evening free to explore Manali market. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05 : Manali/ Batal (100 kms)
Travel by jeep from Manali to Batal over the Rohtang Pass (3980 m). Overnight in tents at Batal.

Day 06 : Batal/ Kaza (88 kms)
Travel from Batal to Kaza by jeep over the Kunzam Pass (4558 m). Overnight in tents at Kaza.

Day 07 : Kaza
Morning visit the Ki monastery, 12 kms from Kaza. This centouries – old gompa is a labyrinth of rooms and corridors – and at one time also acted as a fort. It houses valuable Thangkas and offers a panoramic view of the area. Also visit the small gompa at Kibber, 9 kms further ahead. Kibber at 4205 m has the distinction of being the highest permanently inhabited village of the region. Overnight in tents at Kaza.

Day 08 : Kaza/ Sichling
An excursion visiting Pin Valley, the land of Ibex and Snow Leopards. Also visit an old monastery Gungri monastery in Pin Valley. Rest of day free to explore Sagnam village in Pin valley or make walks around the area. Overnight in tents at Sichling.

Day 9 : Sichling/ Tabo (48 kms)
Travel from Kaza to Tabo by jeep enroute visiting Dhankar gompa. This gompa rests high over the valley and is a stupendous example of local architectoure. It is regarded to have once been a fort and was also the residence of the ruler of Spiti – the Nano. Also visit the Lalung Gompa.

Founded in 996 AD by the great teacher Richensang-po, Tabo is renowned for its breathtaking murals and stucco images – and is often called “The Ajanta of the Himalayas”. The largest monastic complex in Spiti, the old section has 9 temples, 23 chortens, a monks chamber and a nuns chamber. There are several caves adorned with frescoes and contemporary structoures too. In trans Himalayan Buddhism, Tabo’s sanctity is next only to Tibet’s Tholing gompa. Overnight in tents at Tabo.

Day 10 : Tabo/ Nako (69 kms)
Travel by surface from Tabo to Nako. On arrival at Nako, a beautiful village located by the banks of lake, set up camp. Visit the village and the Buddhist temples with stucco images and murals. Near Nako is a rock where a footprint like impression is ascribed to Padmasambhava. Overnight in tents.

Day 11 : Nako/ Kalpa (125 kms)
Travel by surface from Nako to Kalpa enroute visiting confluence of Satluj & Spiti rivers at Khab. On arrival set up camp. Rest of day free to explore Kalpa. Overnight in tents.

Day 12 : Kalpa/ Sangla (51 kms)
Travel by surface from Kalpa to Sangla enroute visiting Kamru Fort & village. On arrival in Sangla set up camp. Overnight in tents.

Day 13 : Sangla
In pictouresque settings and with interesting architectoure, visit the village of Chitkul. Overnight in camps.

Day 14 : Sangla/ Sarahan (92 kms)
Travel from Sangla to Sarahan by jeep. On arrival check in at hotel. Afternoon visit the famous Bhimakali temple, regarded as one of the Shaktipeeths.

Day 15 : Sarahan/ Shimla (184 kms)
Travel from Sarahan to Shimla. On arrival check in at Hotel East Bourne. Overnight at hotel.

Day 16 : Shimla
Morning visit the Institute of Advanced Studies. Afternoon stroll through the famous shopping area of Shimla- The Mall. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 17 : Depart Shimla
In time transfer to Kalka or Chandigarh railway station to board train for onward destination. End of tour & our services.
